About
Since 1996, we've been helping people living with mental illness build meaningful lives through community, employment, and belonging — across 40+ locations statewide.
Provide fundamental community support for anyone navigating the challenges of mental illness.
Clubhouse Michigan champions the belief that people living with mental illness can and do recover. We provide a restorative environment where members access opportunities for employment, socialization, education, skill development, housing, and improved wellness.
Equal opportunities for everyone with a mental illness in Michigan.
We envision a Michigan where every person living with mental illness has access to a Clubhouse community — a place where they can achieve their aspirations, contribute meaningfully, and experience the dignity of full citizenship.

Nearly three decadesof belonging.
Clubhouse Michigan was established in 1996, built on the internationally proven Clubhouse Model of psychosocial rehabilitation — a framework developed in New York City in the 1940s and now practiced in over 40 countries worldwide.
From a single location, we've grown to more than 40 Clubhouse communities across the state of Michigan, each accredited by Clubhouse International and operating on the same foundational belief: that every person living with mental illness deserves more than stability — they deserve a life worth living.
Our Clubhouses are not treatment centers. They are workplaces, communities, and families. Members run the kitchen, manage the office, plan events, and welcome newcomers. The work is real. The relationships are real. The recovery is real.

The values that guideeverything we do.
Membership, Not Patienthood
Every person who walks through our doors is a member — not a patient, a client, or a case. This distinction shapes everything.
Belonging as Medicine
Being known by name, being missed when you're absent, and being needed by your community are as healing as any clinical intervention.
Evidence-Based Model
The Clubhouse Model is an internationally accredited, evidence-based approach to psychosocial rehabilitation with decades of research behind it.
Full-Life Recovery
We support employment, education, housing, wellness, and social connection — because recovery is about building a whole life, not managing symptoms.
Clubhouse International Member
All Clubhouse Michigan locations are accredited by Clubhouse International, the global authority on the Clubhouse Model. Clubhouse International Accreditation ensures each Clubhouse meets rigorous quality standards — from how members participate in daily work to how staff relationships are maintained.
This standard is recognized by government agencies, funders, and healthcare systems as a mark of quality and evidence-based practice in psychosocial rehabilitation.
